Question 1

I'm a family member. How do I start a memorial for my hero?

Accepted Answer

If your hero already has a memorial page, you can search for them on our Wall of Honor or Memorial Map and click 'Claim This Memorial' to verify your relationship and request access. If no page exists yet, visit our 'Register Hero' section and choose between 'Fallen Hero' or 'Deceased Veteran' to begin the submission form. You'll provide biographical details, military service information, and a primary photo. Once submitted, our team reviews and verifies the record, and you'll be notified by email when the memorial page is live.

Question 2

What happens after I submit my hero's information?

Accepted Answer

Once you submit the form, our team reviews the information to verify the service record. This vetting process maintains the integrity of our memorial walls. You will be notified via email once the record is approved and the memorial page is live. After approval, you'll receive instructions on how to activate your Family Keeper account to manage the memorial.

Question 3

What can I do from the Family Management Dashboard?

Accepted Answer

After activating your Family Keeper account, your dashboard lets you: (1) Edit and enhance the memorial by adding photos, refining the biography, or including 'Beyond the Uniform' details like hobbies and personality traits. (2) Manage the guestbook and review incoming tributes from friends and family. (3) Invite other family members to join the memorial and assign them roles such as Memory Sharer.

Question 4

What is the difference between a Fallen Hero and a Deceased Veteran tribute?

Accepted Answer

A 'Fallen Hero' tribute is for service members who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation (e.g., Killed in Action, training accidents, or service-connected deaths). A 'Deceased Veteran' tribute honors veterans who passed away after their service, whether or not their death was service-connected. The registration form you'll complete depends on which type of loss applies to your loved one.

Question 5

How do I keep my hero's memorial updated over time?

Accepted Answer

Your hero's memorial is a living tribute. Log in to your Family Keeper dashboard anytime to upload new photos, update 'Beyond the Uniform' details (favorite songs, hobbies, personality traits), and review guestbook tributes. We encourage families to check in regularly to keep the story fresh and inspiring. Keep your contact information current in 'My Information' to stay informed about recognition programs.
